Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Fernlo ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal information when you join our pre-launch waitlist or, once available, use the Fernlo app. Fernlo is operated from Australia by the individual behind Fernlo.app@gmail.com. If that changes (e.g. we incorporate a company), we'll update this page.
1. What we collect
Waitlist sign-ups. When you join the waitlist we collect your email address, first name, and (optionally) your postcode, how you heard about us, and the topics you're interested in.
Account data. If you create an account once your node unlocks, we collect the details you choose to share on your profile, and technical data such as sign-in timestamps.
Technical data. Basic request metadata (IP address, browser, approximate location) is processed by our hosting and database providers to keep the service secure.
2. How we use it
- To let you know when your local node unlocks or launches nearby.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
- To respond to you if you contact us.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers we need to run Fernlo — currently our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our deployment platform (Lovable / Cloudflare), and our email delivery provider. Each processes your data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments, and only for the purpose of running Fernlo.
4. Where your data is stored
Waitlist and account data is stored in our managed cloud database. Data may be processed or stored in countries other than yours — including the United States and the European Union — under the standard safeguards those providers offer.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time by emailing Fernlo.app@gmail.com. If you're in the EU, UK, or Australia, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local privacy regulator.
6. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password and let us know immediately if you suspect your account has been accessed.
7. Age restriction
Fernlo is restricted to people aged 18 and over. We collect your date of birth at sign-up to verify this and store it privately — only you and platform admins can see it; it is never shown on your public profile. Accounts found to belong to anyone under 18 will be removed.
8. Data retention
To limit how long personal data hangs around, we automatically:
- Delete Quiet Room chat messages 7 days after the associated meetup's scheduled start time.
- Anonymise meetup attendance records 30 days after the meetup (your identity is stripped; only aggregate stats remain, so a Node's activity history isn't lost).
- Delete precise location pings after 24 hours. We never store precise coordinates longer than that.
Deletions are recorded in an internal audit log that stores only counts and timestamps — never the deleted content itself.
9. Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change. The "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
